Officials vs. Cancer Campaign

Week of Jan. 23-28 2012

Use your pink or white whistles and lets get those contributions rolling in!

Please print this off and use it as a guide for your game announcers…

You will notice that the officials for tonight’s game are wearing either pink or white whistles. This is part of a week-long, nationwide campaign called “Officials versus Cancer.”  The campaign is designed to raise the cancer awareness.

If you haven’t been touched by cancer, chances are that you will be someday, either personally or through a loved one, friend, or a colleague.

On behalf of those affected by cancer, the American Cancer Society, Officials vs. Cancer, the Colorado high school basketball officials association, Colorado Board #4, and all officials from around the country we would like to thank everyone for joining in this fight against cancer!

Those wishing to make a contribution can contact your local American Cancer Society office, your local Colorado high school basketball association chapter at www.denverbasketballofficials.com, or any Denver area official.

Effective today, the 2011-12 NFHS Basketball Rules App is available in the Android Market. This great new resource combines the NFHS Basketball Rules Book and Basketball Case Book into one searchable mobile app and is a tremendous companion piece to the printed books. Additionally, the material is cross-referenced to display related content.

The NFHS rules app, developed in partnership with ArbiterSports, is available at this time for Android devices only; however, the iPhone/iPad version will be released soon. In addition, apps for NFHS rules in other sports will be coming later this year and into 2012.

With 54 new officials taking the class  we’ve got a lot of folks that would like your unused shirts and pants and anything else you’re looking to get rid of.  In particular we would like non-patched black & white stripes for all these newbies, but post what you’ve got and we’ll see what happens!

The clothes should be in decent condition and its up to you if you want to sell it, trade it or give it away.  Simply click on EQUIPMENT EXCHANGE to the right and post your ad.  Please let us know when someone has claimed it so we can take it down. It’s that simple.

If you prefer to give it away, get your items to an area director and we’ll dsitribute it at class!

If you need a master list of ALL schools in the state and who assigns the Varsity games, it is available under Assignor Sitess – 2011 Master List  (this will be updated the end of Sept.)

Bruce Bird – has replaced Bill Sullivan as assigner for Northern conference schools
Northern League – has split into Northern and Tri-Valley leagues
Centarus – moved to Northern league
Limon – assigned now by Jeff Gotto & Chris Packard
HRZL  – is now Denver Jewish Day School
Belleview Christian – now in 5280
Gilpin County – now in 5280
Valor Christian – now in Jeffco  4A
Denver Christian – moved to Mile High down to 2A
Liberty Common – new school in North Front Range league
Lookout Academy – no more sports
Denver Lutheran – merged with Parker Lutheran now called just Lutheran
Berthoud and Mead are now in Patriot league.
Castle View – moved to 5A Continental league
Legend  - moved to 5A Continental league
Skyline league is now East Metro Athletic Conference.
Northglenn and Rangeview are now in EMAC
Maranatha – no longer open
