As part of the newly reformed Mentor Committee, they are currently looking for veteran officials who are interested in being a mentor for a new (1st -3rd year) official. If you would like to mentor a new official please send Rudy Robinson an e-mail at rrobinson@budgettruck.com . Rudy will send you a mentor questionnaire to fill out and return and then your name will be put on the mentor list. Once the committee knows who the possible mentors and mentees are, you will be assigned your mentee.
The committee will be compiling information for leagues, tournaments, and camps so that you can help your mentee by working games with them and watching them work even through the summer. Please let Rudy or Sal or the other committee members know ASAP if you want to be a mentor. More information is now posted on the Mentor link to the right!

On New Years Eve 2009, 20 local Area 8 officials gave of their time by helping out at the Denver Rescue Mission. It was an eye opening opportunity for both the officials involved as well as the homeless seeing a whole new side to basketball officials OFF the court. For a full details, read the Article by Ron Brown here (coming Tuesday).

In a record setting year, 111…yes that is correct One Hundred Eleven…folks showed up Monday Novemeber 2nd to complete the IAABO Certification test. And not only was that a record number, but the percentage that actually passed is one of the highest rates as well!
- 45 Officials are now Certified (scored 100-86) 40.5%
- 30 Officials are now Provisional (scored 84-76) 27%
This is an incredible percent and included in that were 6 people that scored a perfect 100%!!!
All officials are to be congratulated for their hard work and the Regional & Area directors and Dave Smith are to be commended for their efforts this year in getting these folks through the class and studying. This means were going to need more mentors!
Area 8 would like to welcome you to the Association, and we look forward to the rest of you passing in the near future!

The 2009 Evaluation Form will be the document that we would like to have printed out and taken to the game with the evaluator to assess the officials game performance. This will be the form that we ask to be sent in to the Committee to be tabulated.
2009 Evaluation Form
The Evaluation Criteria document is where the Form’s totals are listed and these numbers and comments will be posted on the officials ArbiterSports account.

Be sure and check out the latest project between CHSAA and Colorado Board #4 produced by the State Recruiting and Retention committee showcasing our own Area 8 officials in action! The video will be used where ever we can get it in front of those folks that need to step up and join our organization. Be on the watch as we will hopefully use spots on CET during the regular season as well.
If anyone needs a copy of the CD please contact Doug Frueh or Dino Coniglio from the committee or ask CHSAA for one or just feel free to copy the YouTube link! Make sure you thank all these people for the hard work that they put into this project!
It is a permanent link on our page but you can also:
