Congrats to John Gleason and Jim Miller! John Gleason is our new Regional Director and will serve a 2 year term (2018-2020). Jim Miller is our new Area Director and will serve a 3 year term (2018-2021). Thanks to all of the candidates for being willing to serve the members of Area 8.

Westminster HS is now our new Area 8 meeting location for area meetings in the north metro area. Westminster HS replaces Thornton HS as an area meeting location.

The Denver Metro Regional Master Clinic will be held on Saturday, November 4th from 9 am to 12 noon in the Rocky Mountain Room at Front Range Community College in Westminster. The address is: 3645 W. 112th Ave, Westminster, CO 80031

The doors will open at 8 am and assignors will be there for lower level game assignments.
Reminder that attendance at a regional Master Clinic is REQUIRED every other year; if you did not attend a Master Clinic last year, you are REQUIRED to attend a Master Clinic this year. If you cannot make it to the Denver Master Clinic, there are 2 other options along the front range:
- The Southern Master Clinic – Saturday, October 28th at 9 am at Pueblo Centennial HS
- The Northern Master Clinic – Sunday, October 29th at 9 am at Mountain View HS

If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a high school basketball official, our classes are set to begin on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 7 pm at Sheridan High School in the Community Room. The classes will run for 9 weeks meeting every Wednesday night through November 1st. The IAABO certification test will be given on Monday, November 6th at 7 pm, also at Sheridan High School.

Be sure to mark these dates on your calendars now so you can block those dates in Arbiter. Working a game is not an excuse for missing one of the required meetings for the 2017-2018 season.

There are plenty of games for everyone to work during the off-season to keep your officiating skills from getting rusty, to help you prepare for upcoming camps, to enjoy some time on the court with friends, and of course to make a little $$. Camps are important every year for continuing offseason training, to stay current with officiating trends, and receive feedback from top officials. Everyone can improve their skills. There are numerous camps offered during the summer.
Don’t forget to apply for a camp scholarship. Scholarships are open to current members of Denver Area 8 in good standing. Scholarships are paid out as a reimbursement AFTER camp attendance has been confirmed, you must pay in advance for the camp you wish to attend.
